Excerpt on Paid Holiday Pay

19(1) Subject to subsection 18(5), where an employee
works on a public holiday the employer shall pay to the
employee for time worked not less than one and one-half
times his regular rate of wages and, where the employee
is entitled to the holiday with pay, his regular wages in
addition thereto. (1 + 1.5 = 2.5)

19(1.1) In subsection (1) "regular wages" means the
wages the employee would have received had he not
worked on the public holiday.

19(2) Where an employee works on a public holiday, the
hours that the employee works on the public holiday shall
not be taken into consideration in calculating any overtime
pay to which the employee is entitled for the work week
in which the public holiday occurs.
