TIANB, as the tourism industry representative and principal front-line tourism training provider, is offering training programs online. It is our objective to be the essential resource to New Brunswick's tourism industry for advancing strategic solutions to industry human resource challenges including recruitment and retention strategies.
The online learning portal allows Francophone and Anglophone participants throughout the province the opportunity to enhance current skills or to study and gain new skills, without the burden of travel time and travel cost to themselves or their employer.
Being able to deliver training equally to all regions of New Brunswick is one of the key benefits to online learning. And of course online learning is available 24 hours a day. Online, self-paced learning lends itself well to the Tourism Industry. Flexibility in course delivery options is crucial for small businesses with only a few staff and for businesses located in rural areas of the province.
A great number of tourism operations in New Brunswick have less than 5 employees. These smaller operators understand and appreciate the benefits of training but cannot endure the additional expenses of meals, overtime, mileage, etc. that come with travel for in-class training opportunities.
Online learning is available at all times and for whatever time frame the student is willing to commit. Self-paced learning is especially important for the immigrant population and more specifically ESL (English as a Second Language) students and mature students. The student chooses which areas to spend more time on and less time on those aspects that were understood quickly.
