Tourism is not only a sustainable industry but one that is growing fast on a global scale.  Despite it's growth, this industry is facing a skilled labor shortage that will continue to expand over the next 15 years.  In 2009, six Ready to Work programs were completed across the province which contributed 68 newly skilled employees to the tourism workforce in New Brunswick. Over 60% of these participants have already started their career in the tourism industry!

The Ready-to-Work program, delivered free to participants, is a national skills program that is designed to assist those who are unemployed with the transition into the work force and to help those individuals who are interested in a career change. Participants gain the knowledge, attitude, and skills needed for the job market.

The core of the program is based on nationally certified industry qualifications. Topics include professionalism, communication, teamwork, customer service, entrepreneurship, organizational practices and job search skills, all offered through classroom and industry based activity training.

TIANB is proud to recognize the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC) and the Department of Post Secondary Education, Training and Labour for their continued support, which allows the development and delivery of this extremely important and dynamic training program.
