Dan Myers, Chair of the Board of Directors 2017 - 2018
As the incoming Chair, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kathy Weir for all of her dedication and work in chairing TIANB for the past 5 years. Kathy has worked hard to give new life to TIANB and for our association to remain relevant in today's business climate.
I am honoured to be granted the privilege to serve as Chair of TIANB for the upcoming year 2017-2018. As someone that both lives and works in NB, I am keenly aware of the Association's role as a builder and catalyst for all sectors that make up our industry. Additionally, it represents the voice of NB tourism businesses and tourism organizations provincially and nationally.
For close to 35 years, TIANB has been helping to move tourism in NB forward and supporting the businesses that have made our industry a strong economic driving force. The Tourism Industry across Canada and definitely in New Brunswick is witnessing growth and transformation. I am particularly energized to see that TIANB and the tourism business communities are playing a crucial role in driving this growth and prosperity forward. Our commitment to pursuing excellence in tourism will ensure that we remain focused on demonstrating leadership in being your voice and the strategic direction of our industry.
As we all get ready for the summer and what is shaping up to be an exciting and busy season, I am looking forward to what should prove to be an eventful fall and an exciting year.
Our enduring commitment to the membership is to focus on how we can support your growth. To achieve this, we intend to continue to concentrate on three specific strategic goals that will help the organization set the stage for fostering additional prosperity for your business, communities, and our province.
- Advocating public policy that positions Tourism as a leading sector and that supports and stimulates continued growth for industry.
- Board strategic performance reliability to achieve outcomes that impact positively on your business and our industry as a whole.
- Enhancing government relation
As a member based organization, TIANB's role is significant and its responsibility substantial.
I encourage you to get involved. It takes a dedicated group of people to keep TIANB moving forward, and I want to thank everyone who has helped out in the past. I also would like to see everyone a ttend our yearly Industry Summit. It is the premier tourism conference in NB. The program typically features stimulating keynote addresses, plenary talks, invited sessions, as well as sessions on key and emerging areas. The conference is typically held in the month of May of every year.
Let me close by urging you all - Members and "future Members" alike - to be a part of yet another milestone year and engage with us.
Engage with us as we strive to raise our game yet again, all to serve you better and improve your prosperity and our industry's success. Challenge us to better serve you when you see areas where we might improve. And celebrate with us once we have reached these achievements that a few short years ago seemed unattainable and unworthy of any credible discussion.
Let's celebrate our past successes and attack our future challenges - together.
