Position: Onboard Educators

Terms: up to 4 positions, f/t & p/t, 12 week (June 10 – Sept 1) with possibility to extend through fall cruise ship season

Rate of Pay: $15/hour

Organizations: The New Brunswick Museum & Bay Ferries Limited

Location: Based in Saint John, NB, with travel back and forth to Digby, NS several days a week. Additional work days will be spent at the New Brunswick Museum.

Job Description:

Spend your summer on the beautiful Bay of Fundy as a part of an award-winning partnership between the New Brunswick Museum and Bay Ferries Limited, providing natural and cultural heritage interpretation onboard the Fundy Rose ferry, travelling between Saint John, NB and Digby, NS.

Successful candidates will become “Bay of Fundy Experts”, based in Saint John, splitting their time between providing onsite gallery interpretation at the New Brunswick Museum and sailing the high seas, providing onboard education on the Fundy Rose. Topics to be delivered in a casual presentation format range from early exploration of the Bay of Fundy and historical communities, to the geology and formation of the bay, as well as the marine life found in and around it. There is also the opportunity to whale watch from the ferry, while engaging with passengers of all ages through story-telling and crafting.

Candidates must possess a passion for learning and educating, a positive outlook and an enthusiastic nature, and a strong foundation in heritage interpretation.


  • Bilingual in French and English (language proficiency of intermediate plus or higher required)
  • 3rd year (or higher) University students will be considered, with a preference given to those with a background in education, science, or history
  • Ability to communicate difficult topics easily and effectively
  • Highly self-motivated, responsible, and hard-working
  • Previous experience in education and/or a museum setting preferred
