Fredericton, N.B., October 20, 2025 — As Members of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick prepare to reconvene, the Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick (TIANB) wishes to reaffirm the industry’s priorities for sector growth, driving innovation, and enhancing competitiveness.

With a new legislative session beginning tomorrow, TIANB highlights the value of a strong partnership between the government and the tourism industry to support the growth of this sector, which is a pillar of the provincial economy and a key driver of local communities.

"Tourism is a core economic and social driver for all parts of New Brunswick. By working hand in hand with the government, we can continue to build a resilient, and thriving industry that benefits our businesses, our communities, and the world beyond," said Ginette Doiron, Chief Executive Officer of TIANB.

TIANB is focusing on three priority areas to support the competitiveness and development of the industry in New Brunswick

  1. Provide capacity-building support programs: Investing in capacity-building initiatives is essential for the long-term sustainability of the industry.
  2. Introduce incentive programs for innovation and digitalization: TIANB encourages the implementation of incentives to encourage tourism businesses to invest in innovative and long-lasting projects. Such initiatives would help improve the visitor experience.
  3. Simplify regulations affecting tourism businesses: A review of regulatory frameworks would reduce administrative complexity and stimulate entrepreneurship. TIANB recommends a comprehensive review of current regulations, particularly with regard to the modernization of alcohol laws and operating licenses.

“We recognize and appreciate the government’s ongoing efforts to support the tourism sector,” added Ms. Doiron. “By continuing to reduce regulatory hurdles and promoting collaboration, we can ensure a more robust tourism landscape for the entire province.”

As part of its commitment to sector development, TIANB will engage directly with its members on current policy issues during the upcoming Tourism Summit. Scheduled to take place in Miramichi from October 28 to 30, 2025, the summit will facilitate discussions on the future of New Brunswick’s tourism industry.
